The Surrey Titles Weekend - 13/14 July 2024

Following consultation with dancers at our last event and a poll on Facebook we have decided to trial The Surrey Titles 2024 as a two day event...

SATURDAY 13th July 2024 - Adults only event starting at 3pm and finishing around 7.30pm

SUNDAY 14th July 2024 - Kids only event starting at 9am and finishing around 5.30pm

This gives Adults their own day with more predictable timings, and for the kids gives us the opportunity to add more events to give the less experienced dancers more of a chance to dance more rounds.

On the Saturday, we plan to have doors open at 2.30pm with a 3pm start. If the entry is in line with previous events then we expect ballroom to finish around 5.30pm, so with prizes and warm-ups then latin should start 6pm ish. There are no events preceding the adults so we will start on time! Also ...

  • We have added a Senior 4 ballroom

  • We have added Starter/Social dancer events to encourage new adult competitors to dip their toe in the water!

  • We have added one dances for Tango and Samba

  • We have turned the Open Foxtrot and Open Rumba into Charity dances to raise money for the Dancers Forget Me Not charity. To participate in the charity dances you will need to donate £5 cash on the day and this entitles you to dance in both of these events. Half of the proceeds will become cash prizes for finalists, with the other half going to the charity.

On the Sunday, we plan to have doors open at 9am with a 9.45am start. The day will phased as follows ...

  • Phase 1 will combine Juvenile and Junior Couples Latin and Solos Ballroom

  • Phase 2 will combine Juvenile and Junior Couples Latin and Solos Latin

Please note that on Sunday we have ...

  • added Solo Starters / Medalist events in Juvenile and Junior which are only for those dancers who have danced three or less Open Circuit competitions

  • added Solo Rising Star events which excludes those dancers who are ranked in the Top 12 of the U12 and U16 DPA charts on 30th June 2024

  • added Solo one dance events for Juvenile (Foxtrot and Paso) and Junior (Viennese Waltz and Paso)

  • Added Charity dances to raise money for the Dancers Forget Me Not charity (£2 per entry cash on the day). These are exciting 4 dance events (WTRC) with one for each of Juvenile & Junior Couples and Solos.  Each dance within the 4-dance competitions will have individual recalls for each dance in each round with the final results awarded based on all 4 dances. The ballroom dances will be in the ballroom phase and the latin in the latin phase.

TRAVEL

  • Chessington is an area of London that ULEZ has expanded into. Chessington World of Adventures (which is next door to our competition venue) has confirmed the ULEZ expansion includes 'all entrances to the resort, which may affect those driving to us - vehicles need to meet certain emission standards for motorists to avoid paying the daily ULEZ charge.' The theme-park adds: 'Motorists driving to the resort with vehicles that don't meet the requirements will have to pay the daily charge or face a fine.'

  • Please use this link to find out if your car meets the ULEX standards https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/

  • Hopefully no-one needs to pay
