Important info for Junior and Adult Solo Dancers

Due to a significant number of requests, we have added Adult solo events including a cross-over event that Over 14s can also dance in...

  • We have added events for Adult Solo (NL), Under 21 solo and "14 and Over Solo".

  • The Adult solo events are National League for 16 and above

  • The 14 and Over solo is a BDC experimental competition where solo dancers 14 or over (including all adults) can compete against each other. This gives ...

    • an extra event for 14 and 15 year olds to dance (as younger juniors can dance both U14 and U16)

    • a larger field for adult soloists to dance against - as adult solo's are a relatively new category, numbers entering are sometimes low, so we are hoping this will provide more motivation for the adults as well as showing those juniors approaching their 16th birthday that there is a vibrant solo competition field to join when they turn adult

  • The adult solo events will be held along side the juvenile and junior solo events ​to facilitate the "14 and over" events

The Pre-National Trophy Day is fast approaching so the team would like to let you know some key dates…

The approximate phase start times will be as follows although we will confirm once pre-entry has closed...

  • Doors officially open 8.15am (will try to open as close to 8am as possible)

  • Phase 1 – Juvenile / Junior / Adult solo ballroom will start 8.45am. 

  • Phase 2  – Juvenile / Junior / Adult latin solo couples will start 10.45am

  • Phase 3 - Juvenile / Junior ballroom couples and selected adult ballroom events will start around 2.15pm

  • Phase 4 – remaining adult ballroom will start around 5pm

  • Phase 5 – adult latin will start around 7.00pm

  • All start times are approximate as there will always be some no-shows which could shorten the phases slightly so we could be a little bit ahead of the above times. We will also endeavour to run as tightly to the timetable as possible so please be ready to dance at least 20 minutes ahead of time

  • Pre-entries will be accepted until 6th October

  • Entries will be accepted on the day but if you do so then please come to the entry desk straight away to register and get your number so the start of the phase is not delayed

If you find you cannot attend the day then please let us know as soon as you decide as that may impact the timetable

TRAVEL

  • Chessington is an area of London that ULEZ has expanded into. Chessington World of Adventures (which is next door to our competition venue) has confirmed the ULEZ expansion includes 'all entrances to the resort, which may affect those driving to us - vehicles need to meet certain emission standards for motorists to avoid paying the daily ULEZ charge.' The theme-park adds: 'Motorists driving to the resort with vehicles that don't meet the requirements will have to pay the daily charge or face a fine.'

  • We will still accept entries on the day but please enter as soon as you arrive as we wont be able to hold the competition up

  • If you find you cant now make the event, please email us as soon as possible as that may impact the timetable

  • Please pay cash if possible and bring the correct change

Changes to Phases...

Over the next few TMFDANCE events we are trialing some changes to the phases of those events to try to be more friendly to both child and adult competitors. For the Pre-National Trophy Day on 13th October 2024, the phases will be as follows...

Phase 1 - The day will start with Juvenile, Junior and Adult Ballroom Solos and these will dance to completion before any couple events start. 

Phase 2 - The second phase will be Juvenile, Junior and Adult solos as well as Juvenile and Juniot couples Latin. We are doing couples Latin first as this will mean anybody competing in both Solo and Couple events wont need to change clothes for this phase as they will already be dressed for Latin. This means the couples can have a bit of a lie-in, but the mixing of solo and couples latin will enable for bigger gaps between rounds.

There will be approximately a 30 minute gap between phases 2 and 3 to allow for prizes, couples to change & warm-up and judges to have their lunch!

Phase 3 - this will include Juvenile and Junior couples Ballroom as well as selected adult ballroom events. This will allow adult beginners / novice as well as Senior 2 & 3 and all ladies couples to start dancing around 2.15pm (tbc once pre-enties are in). The adult and child events will be interspersed so there is more down time between rounds and, importantly, the adults can start dancing earlier without having to wait for kids events to finish

Phase 4 - this will be the remaining adult Ballroom events. These will start after the kids events have finished but may overlap with the finals of the selected adult ballroom events in Phase 3

Phase 5 - Adult Latin - all events
